The respiratory wards specialise in the care of patients with acute and chronic lung diseases encompassing the use of Non-invasive Positive Pressure ventilation for our COPD patients. You will be part of a supportive and dedicated team of nurses.

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills in ventilation, chest drains and tracheostomies. The ward is also a placement area for nursing students.

The main purpose of this role is to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate high standards of nursing care. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of care within the ward whilst caring for a group of patients under the direction of the senior nurse in charge. You will need to undertake link nurse and auditing activities as delegated by the ward manager.

We are looking for individuals with initiative good communication skills who are flexible innovative and dynamic in outlook with a keen sense of team working and willingness to learn.

You will need the ability to work a variety of shift patterns including weekends and rotation onto night duty.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.

In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied.  Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.  By applying for this vacancy you are agreeing to this undertaking in the event you are successfully appointed.
