Pendle Community Hospital is part of the Medicine for Older People Division within the Trust and is a lovely Community Hospital sitting in a picturesque rural area of Lancashire. The hospital comprises 72 beds across 3 wards providing general and stroke rehabilitation.

Opportunities are available to recruit motivated and reliable Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our nursing teams on these wards.

We are one of the most renowned Rehabilitation Hospitals in the area, working closely with service users, carers and partner organisations, which therefore provides us with the opportunity to make a real difference and improvement to our diverse range of services, from health and social care, alongside general and stroke rehabilitation.

Our general rehabilitation wards accept patients from the acute wards to provide appropriate treatments for patients with varying rehabilitation needs. Although we are a small hospital we have a dedicated Multidisciplinary Team and a multi-disciplinary approach is adopted across the wards, with nursing and therapy staff working closely together to provide a high standard of safe, personal and effective care whilst promoting a return to independent living where possible.

We work closely with families with this goal in mind, or to support patients and their families to arrange safe discharge with care support, or to an appropriate care setting.

The Hospital also has the support of the local charity ‘Friends of Pendle Community Hospital’ that works hard raise funds to provide extra comforts for patients; and has recently been able to redevelop the rooftop and courtyard gardens which allowed some patients’ therapy sessions to be undertaken in a different setting.

The successful candidates will be registered with a General Nurse qualification and be on the NMC Register and will demonstrate the Trust’s values at all times ensuring the provision of quality nursing care. They must have the initiative to adapt to the changing demands of the service and be able to contribute to the development of service provision.

It is important you are made aware of the changes which East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has implemented with regard to charging for the cost of undertaking Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) Checks (previously known as Criminal Records Bureau or CRB) and how this may impact upon you.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.


In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied.  Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.  By applying for this vacancy you are agreeing to this undertaking in the event you are successfully appointed.
