Consultant in Colorectal & General Surgery
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a Consultant in Colorectal and General Surgery.
East Lancashire Hospitals NHS trust is a very busy high volume colorectal unit providing all aspect of Subspecialist Colorectal and general surgical treatment with state of the art facilities. The successful applicant will join a team of 7 Colorectal surgeons and be involved in colorectal cancer, IBD or other subspecialties according to their interests. The appointees will be expected to further develop subspecialist service within Colorectal Surgery with particular focus on minimally invasive surgery. The Trust has established a colorectal robotic surgery service and is also in the process of setting up Robotic surgery within HPB surgery making this an exciting time for prospective candidates. As a department we are focused on developing specialist services for Transanal surgery and complex abdominal wall reconstructions. We also host the Lancashire Women’s & Newborn Endometriosis Centre in partnership with the gynecology department. A higher degree and ongoing research interests are desirable.
The appointee should be have a broad training in general surgery with competency in both elective and emergency general surgical procedures. The appointee will be expected to participate in the General surgical on-call rota which is currently 1:11. The applicants should be keen, hardworking and have willingness to work flexibly as a team member. This is especially important as the department is currently looking to deliver a transformed model of working in keeping with national requirements and clinical excellence. Any applicant should have entry on the GMC Specialist Register or be within six months of being placed on the Register. The post is based across our two main sites the Royal Blackburn Hospital and Burnley General Hospital. It also involves clinics at peripheral sites in the East Lancashire region.
Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with license to practice
