C18b at the Royal Blackburn Hospital is a 18 bedded specialist surgical colorectal ward with general emergency surgery.

General Duties will include: 

  1. Establish and maintain effective communication with individuals and groups about difficult or complex matters overcoming any problems/barriers in communication.
  2. Develop knowledge and practice in an area of work
  3. Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in own work area
  4. Contribute to the development of services
  5. Contribute to quality improvement
  6. Support people's equality, diversity and rights
  7. Assess people’s health and wellbeing needs when those needs are complex and change across the caseload
  8. Plan, deliver and evaluate programmes to address patient's complex and changing health and wellbeing needs
  9. Lead others in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice
  10. Plan, allocate, assess and provide feedback to team members
  11. Maintain and support the efficient use of physical and /or financial resources.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.

In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied.  Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.  By applying for this vacancy you are agreeing to this undertaking in the event you are successfully appointed.
