Job overview
Ward C6 is a 25 bedded acute respiratory ward caring for patients who may have long-term or life limiting conditions
You will demonstrate a passion for improving the patient and relative experience for those patients who have to deal with the diagnosis and treatments. You will be expected to undertake any mandatory training to enhance pre-existing knowledge and ensure research based practice. In addition to this, you will possess well developed communication skills that will be used to engage, inspire and motivate both staff and patients in this exciting and challenging clinical area. Good time management skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise your workload and in return we will enable you to develop your clinical and leadership skills with the support from the Senior Nursing team within the Medical and Emergency Care Division
We work closely with the Respiratory Nurses and the Respiratory Assessment Unit. And there will be opportunities for you to enhance your understanding of respiratory conditions.
A flexible approach and the ability to respond to the demands of a rapidly changing acute clinical environment are also essential
Ward C6 has an enthusiastic team of friendly, hardworking, dedicated nurses who are very supportive to each other and provide a relaxed happy environment for their patients.
It is essential that you are able to work weekends, bank holidays and rotation to nights as part of the working shift patterns.
Main duties of the job
To assess, plan, implement and evaluate holistic, individualised patient care. Carry out all forms of patient care without direct supervision. To provide advice and support junior staff and learners in all aspects of delivering Safe, Personal and Effective Care.

Essential
Essential criteria
- First Level Registration Qualification in specialty to diploma/degree level, or willingness to undertake study Appropriate Teaching assessing certificate
- Effective literacy skills, both written and verbal
- Effective communication skills, both written & verbal
- Able to manage the care for a group of people and prioritise workload with minimal supervision.
- Be proficient at calculating drug doses
- Moving and handling, customer awareness, computer/keyboard skills
- Be able to work in a team
- Be enthusiastic, conscientious and sympathetic
- Proven ability to keep information confidential
Desirable criteria
- Able to present reasoned discussion
- Evidence of continuous development
