We are seeking to recruit Band 5 Registered Nurses in our Acute Medical Unit A and B

This is an 82 bedded unit divided onto to 2 areas,

Amu A is located near the Emergency Department, and AMU B is located on B6/8.
We accept all admissions from a range of sources, GP, Emergency Department and Clinics, The patients pathway is determined by their acute medical issue, they are seen, assessed and treated, then transferred to an appropriate ward or discharged home. Our length of stay is targeted at up to 72 hours

We work with a multi-disciplinary team, to ensure that patient care is the priority.
The candidate needs to be highly motivated and enthusiastic as a team member. Maintaining high standards of professional conduct. As a Band 5 nurse you need to have good communication skills both written and verbal. Liaising with the multidisciplinary team and relatives. Be able to administer drugs and treatments as prescribed with safety, accuracy and intelligence. To maintain and accurately monitor patients clinical observations of a patient’s condition and escalate appropriately. Need to be well organised, be able to prioritise nursing care on very busy ward environment.

In house training will be provided by our own Practice Educators, our Goal is to remain GREEN in our compliance of The Nursing Assessment and Performance Framework and in our Core Skills Training. It is essential that the successful applicant is committed to professional development and has the ability to work as part of a team and independently using their own initiative.

It is important you are made aware of the changes which East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has implemented with regard to charging for the cost of undertaking Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) Checks (previously known as Criminal Records Bureau or CRB) and how this may impact upon you.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.
The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.

In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.
