AMU B at Royal Blackburn hospital is looking for highly motivated and committed Band 5 Staff Nurses. The Acute Medical Unit is a 84 bedded admissions unit at Royal Blackburn Hospital over 3 areas, AMU A, AMU B and The Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit.  The new model of acute care has been implemented to enable patients to have a pathway through the service which will be focused on getting the right care at the right time.

The patients are assessed, treated and triaged, then either stay for discharge home up to 72 hours or move to an appropriate Specialist Medical Ward

 

If you are keen to develop your acute clinical care skills then this is the Unit for you.

We offer a structured orientation programme and preceptorship with the support of our dedicated Ward Manager, Dedicated practise educator, Ward sisters, Specialist Nurses and our team of Consultants. We also can arrange a rotation period within the emergency department here at Royal Blackburn to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge.

Once on AMU B, you will receive a supernumerary period to enable you to gain the skills, confidence and competencies required to care for acutely ill patients.  We can also arrange dedicated clinical teaching sessions every month to support your revalidation and ongoing professional development. Or if you’re a newly qualified nurse we offer a structured and bespoke orientation programme and preceptorship with the support of our Practise educators and clinical practitioners.

We require enthusiastic individuals with a can do attitude that have the ability to work within our friendly units and teams. They must be as committed as we are in getting things right the first time every time. You must also be committed to undertake ongoing in-service training and further development is essential. You should be motivated, keen to learn and ready to embrace change and service improvement.   Our commitment to you is to provide the environment for this to happen and ensure that you are part of our ongoing development programmes. If you are motivated to deliver high standards of care and have the personal qualities and characteristics as outlined in the personal specification then this could be the post for you.

 

Posts are offered on a full and part time basis. The post requires flexible working patterns to meet the needs of the service to include bank holidays, nights and weekends as required.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.
