The AMUs at RBH is renowned for being a popular and supportive environment to work. We have a Practice educator and clinical practitioners on both AMUs. We have experienced band 6s/7 on every shift to support each member of the team.

We pride ourselves on each area having achieved 2 Green NAPF assessments and are working towards our 3rd assessment early this year.

We want to make you the best you can be, this is by on the job training and support, by our regular training days and shortly we are providing Lunch time Learning sessions

You will have 6-8 planned week induction [ out of the numbers]. You will be allocated a mentor and be supported by the ward Practice Educator. We also have a bespoke induction relevant to our area of nursing. You will not go onto night duty for 3 months and after that only when you feel confident. During your induction you can experience shadowing staff in areas that we work closely with such as ED, Ambulatory Care, Out with paramedics.

You will manage a caseload of up to 6 patients, your beds will be turned over at least once for new patients, a band 2/3 HCA will be also supporting you. We have a band 4 nurse on duty who acts as the discharge facilitator she will chase results/TTOs/arrange the Discharge Lounge or relatives to collect the patient, this enables you to concentrate on you giving excellent care to your sick patients.

The experience of being a senior band 5 on AMU will prepare you for a band 6 role.

These posts are to attract band 5s with at extensive experience who are considering a future band 6 role. We will assist you in learning Advanced Clinical skills, we will encourage and develop your leadership style.

We will also offer you experience as a band 6 on our rotational band 6 post so you can experience 3-6 months in a temporary band 6 post.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.
