We are looking for a dynamic and innovative Nurse Consultant with a proven track record to lead the Infection Prevention Nursing Team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.

This role will provide the opportunity to lead in the further development of an advanced specialist service, improve patient safety and strengthen professional leadership. This post involves cross boundary and inter agency working.

You will be trained to Masters Level and have at least 5 years’ experience at a senior level within infection prevention and control.

You will be responsible for the provision of specialist infection prevention and control advice and education relating to infection prevention for all grades of staff.

Our infection prevention and control team is forward thinking, innovative, and passionate about patient safety and service provision. You will work within a supportive team to build on our success in reducing infection rates through influencing, and working closely with multi- disciplinary teams.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.

In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied.  Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.  By applying for this vacancy you are agreeing to this undertaking in the event you are successfully appointed.
