For the post of Specialist Practitioner of Transfusion the candidate is required to be: an experienced specialist Health Professions Council Registered Biomedical Scientist / NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council) Registered General Nurse or Midwife who is responsible for ensuring that safe and effective Transfusion practices are known and maintained throughout the Trust. Position for the post – band 7.
Main Duties include: working in close association with the Blood Scientists in the laboratory, acting as an intermediary with the nursing professions and clinicians at ward level; being part of the Trust risk management and clinical governance strategies. Developing and implementing the policies from the Hospital Transfusion Committee and responsibility for the training and auditing of these policies.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
