At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care.  We currently provide high quality services and treat over 600,000 people across East Lancashire and the surrounding area. We employ over 7,000 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work.

An Exciting opportunity has arisen in our Management Accounts team and we are looking for an enthusiastic, confident and pro-active individual who will fit into our energetic and professional team.

The post sits within the Management Accounts team of the Finance Department at ELHT and  falls under the direct supervision of a Team Leader. It involves working in a team of Finance Officers who provide sound information to Senior Finance staff and Divisional Accountants as well as advice and support where appropriate to budget managers.

It requires individuals with strong inter-personal skills and a proven ability to adapt to new ideas, knowledge and skills.

It is absolutely essential that the post holder has hands on experience working in a finance setting.

The post holder will be expected to manage own day to day workload and plan and organise workloads in-line with monthly and annual financial timetables.

Within the duties outlined, the successful candidate must communicate effectively. This will involve verbal, written and presentational skills. Strong communication skills are key to this post as the post holder will be required to chair budget meetings, explain financial information to non-finance colleagues and be involved in training other Finance colleagues.

The post holder will act as a lead and a direct point of contact for the finance elements of the ESR system.

It is essential that the applicant has strong spreadsheet, database and IT skills, and who is already working towards an accounting qualification/AAT.

Our Finance Department has both FFF and FSD Level 3 accreditation, the highest level which  recognises NHS organisations that have the very best finance skills development culture and practices in place.

We don’t just look at you for who you are now; we look at you for who you could be in the future. We take training seriously, and encourage you to do the same. We want staff to develop their capabilities to the full with a range of learning and development opportunities.

To enable the Trust and its employees to exceed expectations and to achieve corporate and service aims and objectives, we need to recruit, develop and retain skilled and motivated people through effective people management and development, leading to a high performance culture.

In November 2018, the Trust received a prestigious HSJ award for ‘Creating a Supportive Staff Culture’. This demonstrated positive culture change is happening throughout the organisation, and is much more than an ‘initiative’, it is the way we do things at ELHT. Engage to Make a Difference has enabled everyone at ELHT to play their part in the continually improvement of the Trust. And what’s more our National Staff Survey results improve each year. We have above average scores for engagement, and are now in the top 20 percent of organisations on 16 key measures of staff satisfaction.

Please note that the salary advertised is for full time hours. If this post is less than 37.5 hours per week, the salary will be pro-rata.
