An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior Business Accountant, following the promotion of the current post holder.

The finance department, within East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, vision is to provide support, advice and leadership in the delivery of finance targets and to ensure that corporate objectives and the financial implications of these are made clear to both Trust Board and individual budget holders. The department is accredited with Towards Excellence Level 3 – Consistently Excellent Performance.

To be responsible for the line management, leadership and support for the Divisional Accountants on a day to day basis, and to lead from a finance perspective on all service tender work, working closely with the divisions, the Assistant / Deputy Director of Finance, Head of Contracting and the Associate Director of Service Development to provide financial expertise to ensure compliance with NHS policies and guidelines.

We are looking for an exceptional individual with strong analytical and communication skills who has the ability to influence the delivery of clinical change. Key financial responsibilities will include providing high quality, accurate financial advice to managers and clinicians to ensure optimal decisions are made.

The role requires an innovative finance professional with a proven track record in continuous improvement and leading change and high calibre influencing skills. It is essential that the post holder has a wide range of post qualification experience within the NHS. You will be able to use a high level of judgement and have well-developed communication skills. The post holder will be CCAB or CIMA qualified with relevant experience within an acute trust NHS financial environment.

The post is based at Royal Blackburn Hospital but will involve some cross-site working with Burnley General Hospital and other sites as required.
