The Research and Development Department works closely with Trust based clinicians and external researchers and organisations to undertake high quality clinical and health services research.  This gives the local population of East Lancashire the opportunity to take part in research studies associated with their clinical conditions or the care and services they receive.  This is a small department but working with many different clinical areas and departments across the Trust that has grown its research activity over the last few years across many clinical areas and specialities, and still trying to ensure equity of access of research studies for the local patient population.

The role of the Research Manager – Delivery and Industry will be accountable for the planning, performance and delivery of research at the Trust by providing expert day to day Research management advice and support for all research activity being delivered and being considered at the Trust. This includes development and management of an Industry portfolio, to ensure high performance against required reportable metrics / high level objectives as well as within the appropriate regulatory frameworks.   Working with the Clinical Research Nurse Manager in assessing and managing the resources (including appropriate budget management) needed to deliver the Trust research portfolio. Liaising with all Trust research speciality leads as well as the NIHR Clinical Research Network to facilitate an active research portfolio that can be offered to the local population of East Lancashire.  Lead and support aspects of the Trust’s Research and Development Strategy.

We are seeking someone who enjoys a creative and developing research environment supporting future patient and clinical services.  The successful candidate will have a track record in working within a clinical research environment in a management position, especially being able to demonstrate they have experience of the requirements of the NIHR High Level Objectives that NHS Trusts are required to deliver to. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate they lead by example, able to motivate and inspire junior colleagues by possessing a high level of knowledge and skills of clinical research delivery management. They will be able to demonstrate excellent prior working relationships with clinical research industry partners.
