This exciting new role provides a unique opportunity for an experienced Communications Officer to showcase their expertise in both NHS and charity communications.

Having responsibilities for both Trust projects, and the Trust’s Charity; ELHT&Me, gives the successful candidate a varied and distinctive role in the Communications and Engagement Team.

Using excellent communications skills the post holder will effectively create and lead on a number of organisation wide projects for both internal and external audiences. The role will work to equally promote and enhance the reputation of the Trust and ELHT&Me.  

General Duties/Duties will include:

  • To lead on communications and engagement activity, including internal, external and digital communications requirements for both the Charity and Trust.
  • Commission, write and co-ordinate interesting and persuasive stories to support photo opportunities, cheque presentation and charity events for both local and national media and for use in local, regional and national media.
  • Work with key stakeholders across the Trust to support the delivery of their annual plans and key projects, as well as those for the Charity.
  • Meet with members of the public, patients and their relatives in a knowledgeable and sensitive manner to ensure a feeling of confidence in them sharing their personal stories about both the Trust and Charity. Then converting their stories into usable content for the purpose of marketing services and raising charitable funds.


We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate communicator to help us tell our fantastic stories, to increase awareness of the difference the Trust and ELHT&Me make to the health and wellbeing of people across Pennine Lancashire.

You will be joining a proactive team and will ideally have a variety of communications skills. In this role you will be the key contact for one of our divisional areas and ELHT&Me, and comfortable taking the driving seat to encourage and motivate. You will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to create engaging communications for internal and external audiences, work effectively with the media and other stakeholders and be able to work across traditional and digital channels throughout the Pennine Lancashire footprint.
